DEPLOYMENT OF ODIP MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES
For News Channel Updates

Project 
To deliver Live TV Channel Feeds to Financial Analyst to keep themselves upbreast on the latest news of the financial markets. Installation has been carried out at ICICI Global Headquarters. And their Securities Subsidiary.

Scope 
To setup a desktop TV system capable of delivering News feeds from various channels like BBC, CNBC, CNN etc to all desktops across ICICI. 

ICICI 
ICICI is the one of the leading Bank of India with a strong impetus in the retail sectors and strong corporate philosophy and . Market led innovative products and services for the retail sector and one of the best private banks in the country, Its spending for cutting edge technology to achieve required results was a pioneering initiative, which is tried to be replicated by others but not as effective.

Purpose 
Top-level executives and analyst of ICICI were increasingly facing a problem of having latest updates on the markets across India and on the other developments which have an impact on the financial market. To provide all and latest information, the company planned to provide a TV and a cable connection to the all the employees. When the economies were worked out, this solution could not be offered as it turned out to be an expensive affair plus providing a TV on everyones desk was also a problem. To avoid this problem, they were looking for a solution which would offer latest news with TV like quality on individual desktops across their offices.

Solution Offered 
Implementing ODIP Media Server and ODIP media Player from Synapse. The key to the desired solution out here was to achieve TV like quality on the desktop. Four channels, CNN, CNBC, Star News and BBC were streamed to all executives. For this, a cable stream was captured by the Odip server, digitized, compressed and streamed to the executives. The best part of the Odip Sevrer setup was streaming multicast streams. By multicast streaming, only one streaming was send to all the executives thereby saving precious network bandwidth for all other applications.

The following were deployed along with the required customization.

Odip Media Server 

• The ODIP Media Server is an NT/2000 based server that can broadcast audio, video, text, powerpoint, animation etc streams on existing networks in the Windows environment.
• Source feed can be analogue feeds like VHS, Beta, etc or a digitial feed like avi, mp3, wmv, etc.
• Intelligent streaming at variable bit rate - Odip server checks the network bandwidth and according to the bandwidth available sends the stream. The biggest advantage out here is clients having low bandwidth do not suffer from receiving the data encoded at higher bit rates.
• It can also restrict the number of client, this is particularly helpful where network is not multicast enabled and one has to check the bandwidth usage.
• Multiple streaming support, enabling streaming contents to audiences at differening bandwidth.
• Handling Multicast and Unicast Broadcast Sessions.

Odip Player

• Small size client side software for capturing the streams of audio, video,text, PP slide, animation and additionally capable of enabling compulsory viewing by the recipient.
• The Player can be configured from the server.
• Customisable interface for look and feel incorporating the ICICI logo.

Why Synapse

• A multinational firm had bagged the order but failed to deliver desired quality(frames per second) on the given network.
• Synapse was given a chance to work with a condition that order would be confirmed on achieving the desired quality.
• Odip server was successfully implemented achieving 25 frames per second on the given network with least bandwith usage.

• ICICI was able to install a comprehensive Real time TV to the the top management and senior executives at ICICI on desktop with excellent audio - video quality All senior executives can stay in touch with the best of world news coverage now, with ODIP.
• No new investments in Television sets, IT hardware, software, network infrastructure or modifications to their office interiors was required as compared to installing TV and a cable connection as the solution was delivered at the most competitive capital cost, with variable costs involved in maintaining the systems.
